Scholarship Announcement: Ms. Caitlin's School of Blacksmithing Scholarship

Ms. Caitlin's School of Blacksmithing is thrilled to announce a scholarship opportunity, sponsored by the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths. This scholarship aims to remove financial barriers and support diversity in the craft of blacksmithing, encouraging participation from individuals of various genders, races, physical abilities, and neurodiversities; and increasing the visibility of diverse blacksmiths through social media. 
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Applicants must be 13 years or older. Applicants under age 18 must have a parent or guardian in attendance during classes. 
  • Must be able to attend 6 classes before May 31, 2025.
  • Classes are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays
How to Apply:
  1. Create a Video: Produce a short video (between 30 seconds - 2 minutes) explaining why you want to take blacksmithing classes specifically at Ms. Caitlin's School.
  2. Post to Social Media: Share your video publicly on social media with the tag #mscaitlinsschoolscholarship.
  3. Email Submission: Follow up with an email to info@mscaitlinsschool.com, including:
    • A link to your video.
    • Your blacksmithing background (if applicable).
    • Why you think you would be a great fit at Ms. Caitlin's School.
Important Dates:
  • Application Deadline: September 30, 2024
  • Scholarship Award Announcement:  October 7, 2024
Award Details:
  • One full scholarship covering six blacksmithing classes. There is no cash equivalent. 
  • Classes are held in downtown Frederick, MD at Ms Caitlin's School of Blacksmithing
Selection Criteria:
Applications will be evaluated based on:
  • Passion and enthusiasm for blacksmithing.
  • Alignment with the mission to promote diversity within the craft.
  • Creativity and effort demonstrated in the video submission.

Terms and Conditions:
  • Applicants must submit their video and email by the specified deadline.
  • The scholarship is non-transferable and must be used within the specified time frame.
  • Recipients may be required to participate in promotional activities for Ms. Caitlin's School of Blacksmithing.
  • The scholarship covers only the cost of the six blacksmithing classes and does not include travel or accommodation expenses.
  • Recipients agree to share images, videos, and stories about their blacksmithing journey on social media. 
Privacy Policy:
  • Applicant data will be used solely for the purposes of evaluating and awarding the scholarship.
  • Personal information will be kept confidential and not shared with third parties.
  • Media shared publicly, or with the intention of it being shared on social media may be shared on social media by Ms Caitlin's School.
